What is PEEK? Today, Nanjing Shousu for everyone to popularize:

The Chinese name of PEEK is polyetherether ketone. It is a new material, put forward during the National 12th Five-Year Plan Period, and it is a performance of special engineering plastics. PEEK has high temperature resistance, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, high strength and a series of excellent comprehensive performance, currently has a very wide range of uses. In the aerospace, automotive, electrical and electronic, medical and food processing and other fields, it is widely used.

PEEK plastic materials have excellent dimensional stability properties, which are important for some applications. The changes of temperature, humidity and other environmental conditions have little effect on the size of PEEK parts, which can meet the requirements of high dimensional accuracy conditions.

PEEK material has four characteristics:

1. Small shrinkage of injection molding of PEEK plastic raw materials, which is very beneficial to control the dimensional tolerance range of PEEK injection molded parts, making the dimensional accuracy of PEEK parts much higher than that of general plastics;

2. The coefficient of thermal expansion is small, with the change of temperature (can be caused by the change of ambient temperature or friction heat generation in the process of operation), the size of the parts is very small change;

3. Good dimensional stability. The dimensional stability of plastic refers to the dimensional stability of engineering plastic products in the use or storage process, because the activation energy of polymer molecules is improved, so that the chain segment has some degree of crimping.

4. PEEK heat hydrolysis characteristics are outstanding, in high temperature and high humidity environment water absorption is very low, will not appear similar to nylon and other general plastics due to water absorption and the size of the obvious change;

PEEK is an ideal electrical insulator, which can still maintain good electrical insulation performance under harsh working conditions such as high temperature, high pressure and high humidity. Therefore, the electronic information field has gradually become the second major application field of PEEK sheet, including the manufacture of pipes, valves and pumps for conveying ultra-pure water. In the semiconductor industry, it is commonly used to manufacture wafer bearers, electronic insulating diaphragms and various connecting devices.

As a semi-crystalline engineering plastic, PEEK is insoluble in almost all solvents other than concentrated sulfuric acid, so it is commonly used to make compressor valves, piston rings, seals and various chemical pump bodies and valves.

PEEK has excellent performance, and its application fields will be more extensive along with the domestic application research. At present, Chongqing 973 New Materials Research Center has been specially established in China, which is specialized in the research of PEEK in the application field. The research center was established under the leadership and care of Chongqing municipal governments at all levels. It is committed to the research in the field of automobiles, electronic appliances, transportation and other fields, and is at the forefront of applied research in China at present.

Current use

Currently, PEEK is sometimes used on disinfection cabinets and wireless verification systems, which is quite stainless steel. It is a high temperature resistant thermoplastic, with a higher glass transition temperature (143℃) and melting point (334℃), load thermal transformation temperature up to 316℃ (30% glass fiber or carbon fiber reinforced brand), can be used at 250℃ for a long time, compared with other high temperature resistant plastics such as PI, PPS, PTFE, PPO, etc. The upper limit of the operating temperature is nearly 50℃ highe. PEEK resin has not only superior heat resistance than other high-temperature resistant plastics, but also has high strength, high modulus, high fracture toughness and excellent dimensional stability. PEEK resin can maintain high strength at high temperature, its bending strength at 200℃ up to about 24MPa, at 250℃ bending strength and compression strength is still 12 ~ 13MPa;PEEK resin has high rigidity, good dimensional stability and small linear expansion coefficient, which is very close to metal aluminum material. In addition, it has excellent chemical resistance, in the usual chemical drugs, only concentrated sulfuric acidcan dissolve or destroy it, its corrosion resistance and nickel steel similar, at the same time, its own flame retardancy, under the condition of flame release smoke and toxic gas less, strong radiation resistance. PEEK resin has good toughness and excellent fatigue resistance to alternating stress, which is the most outstanding among all plastics and comparable to alloy materials. PEEK resin has outstanding tribological properties, excellent sliding and fretting wear resistance, especially high wear resistance and low friction coefficient at 250℃. PEEK resin is easy to extrusion and injection molding, with excellent processing performance and high molding efficiency.

PEEK belongs to high-performance special engineering plastics, a new material proposed in the 12th Five-Year Plan. It has a series of excellent comprehensive properties such as high temperature resistance, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, high strength, etc. It is widely used in automotive, aerospace, electronic photovoltaic and so on. Now, you have an idea of what PEEK is.
